Community Volunteers

Even without a basic knowledge of Spanish, you can volunteer at Open Windows by building houses or delivering and setting up eco-stoves. Professional masons direct the work of building the houses, which usually takes one to two weeks for a one- or two-room house with a bathroom. Eco-stoves are set up in a couple of hours and, depending on the size of the group, dozens of stoves may be delivered in a single week. Some groups, like high school Spanish classes, divide their time between painting houses in the morning and teaching the children in the afternoon.
